I am not an expert on these but there were a couple of Ludwig Psychedelic red snares on ebay this week-one a 1967 Jazz that went for $2150 and then there is another one currently listed for over $4K that says it is not as rare as the jazz one. How rare are they? I have a 1967 Psychedlic red kit that came with a Nov 03 1967 Supraphonic that I am told is very rare because I have the 14" floor tom with it-curious as to what the thinking is on the snares.....
Psychedelic Red snares on ebay
Noble and Cooley Walnut snare
Noble and Cooley Horizon 6 piece kit in blue sparkle
2002 Noble and Cooley 4 piece Studio Classic in natural maple
Nov 3 1967 Ludwig chrome Supraphonic
1990s Pearl Session Custom in Amber fade
20 Zildjians
1984 Tama Superstar Bell Brass Snare
Noble and Cooley natural cherry snare
Rather rare to have a matching snare in these mod colors (Citrus Mod, Mod Orange, Psych Red) because at the time they were for sale almost every set was cataloged and bought with a metal snare (typically a Supra like yours). A matching Jazz festival or other wood snare was a special order and an option that not many chose to ask for as metal snares were the sort of sound people wanted then as well. This same thing applies to Oyster Black Pearl "Ringo" snares, tons of OBP sets sold, almost all with metal snares. Now there is a demand for these matching snares but precious few exist so high demand coupled with low supply equals expensive.
I have a 1971 Psych Red kit and it also has the original Supra. I bought it from the original owner and he told me he had wanted a matching snare but the Ludwig dealer talked him out of it (DOH!). I'd love to find one (and an original 14" floor tom to go with my 16") but they are well out of my price range.
I "cloned" myself a 14" floor tom...will probably do the same for a snare.
All psychedelic red snare drums are rare.
Original psych red Jazz Festival drums in nice condition go for 4K and up.
6 lug Pioneer models are probably rarer.
I know the guy selling the 6 lugger on eBay.
He has the drum priced kinda "up there" imo.
But of course, try and find another one, especially one that nice!
You aren't kidding when you say clone. Talk about a close match in wrap! Nice work.
Bum Wrap "Red Psychedelic, more blue" probably as close as anyone is going to come to a repro unless Ludwig were to chose to redo Psych Red in the same way as they have just brought Mod Orange back (and even then it would be a crap shoot as far as how close they get it).

A few months ago someone told me they were. I was expecting it at the same time as the mod, but apparently it will come out at a later time.
Here are 4 samples of Psychedelic Red from Bum Wrap. I went with the top left version, which is the "more blue" version. Also attached is a Ludwig Rocker shell that I wrapped with the "more blue" version. The completed drum looks great!

Actually, I already did a snare as well but was unhappy with the results. I used the regular Red Psychedelic from Bum wrap on that drum and feel that it looks too dark compared to my other drums. The more blue version is closer and I am going to try again using that wrap. I'm undecided whether to re-do the Rocker shell that I already did (I glued the wrap on) or go with a 3 ply snare shell I just acquired. Probably going to be snowed in tomorrow so maybe I'll make the final decision and proceed with that project.
