I've done cheap replacements by cutting pieces out of an old and black leather belt, which thickness was almost the same.

Yes, exactly one inch. Black leather on top, plain leather on bottom, but just slightly conical shaped. Just like a pants belt....maybe they had a surplus of belts laying around the Premier factory...maybe a cheap alternative to metal washers...;)
