I have a 1975 Kenny Clare set & would love to know how the inner shells were fastened to make the rso box & how did the dampner work, thanks.

The resonator liners were simply prized into the drum and rested on the support hoops. You can on occation come across resonator badged drums without the resonator lining, usually because theres been a hardware change.

How did the dapmner work then, did the linners have cut outs ? Were they also made of African Mahogany or Beech like the reo rings.

Yes they cut a slot thru the resonator ply to fasten a dampner whenever these were a feature. My resonator kit doesnt have dampners, but ive seen resonator snare drums with the slots cut in the inner ply. The resonator ply was another sheet of finnish birch.
