Pre-War Ludwig & Ludwigs on Ebay

Loading...

check them out. buy them Item #220441052380

Up for auction is a beautiful set of Pre-War Vintage Ludwig and Ludwig drums. Original. Unrestored. The drums are in excellent condition considering their age. My intentions were to restore them to playable condition but tough times mean tough decisions and unfortunately (for me) they have to go. These drums are worth thousands. You can pick them up waaaayyy cheaper. Here's a description of each drum

14x7 Enamel Badge Snare in White Avalon Pearl

-made in July 1939 (3907)

-painted white inside

-individually tunable snares? (need replaced)

28x14 Enamel Badge Bass also White Avalon Pearl

-made in June 1939 (3906)

-capital 'L' stamped on all lugs

-seem to have original calfskin heads

-mahogany hoops

14x12 Red & Gold Rectangle Badge Tom in White Avalon Pearl

-made in November 1938 (3811)

-unfinished ?maple? interior

-unoriginal Slingerland mount

-does have small chips on rim

-intact (tacked on) calfskin head with original decorative strip

-has a 'P' written in chalk on inside

16x14 Red & Gold Rectangle Badge Tom in White Avalon Pearl

-made in September 1938 (3809)

-missing bottom head (would also be tacked on)

-two of the brass clips are missing and two are broken

-looks like the inside was lacquered

-also has a 'P' written in chalk inside

I also have the Ludwig Super Speed King Pedal that will be included in the auction.

In the best case scenario, you would pick the drums up. I will consider delivering them personally within 100-150 miles. I will ship if I have to. I live very close to the Pittsburgh Airport and will use FedEx to ship. Any option will be financially covered by you, the buyer. I do not try to make money off of shipping and I pride myself on full disclosure of item condition and auction integrity. If you have questions please ask. Have fun ebaying!

Here's another steal on the bay Ebay Item #220439682928

This one is Gold Sparkle.

Here is a very cool1935 Leedy Spartan 14x28 bass drum and matching 9x13 tom tom. These are GREAT SOUNDING DRUMS! The tom tom has that authentic ringing tone. Often, these old tacked heads are torn or too loose to make a sound. Not this one! All this needs is a 13" single flange hoop and clips to make it all correct. The cowbells and woodblock are in really nice condition. The chrome holder is specifically designed to attach to the trap rail as is the tom holder. They are not the "hoop mount" type.

Bass drum date stamped inside- 0535 (May 1935 w/ original white interior).

BIG AND POWERFUL! This big bass drum is guaranteed to knock your fellow bandmates right off the stage!

Bass has some extra small holes, probably a heater was installed (and maybe the rail was moved?)

9x13 Tacked Head tom w/ mount

Non original hoop and rods on tom

Comes with original internal muffler and key holder

Chrome cowbell holder with bells and block

"Knobby Gold" hardware on bass drum!

Hardware is very clean but gold finish has darkened

NO RUST OR DIRT

Finish on tom has numerous cosmetic finish cracks but has been cleaned and is stable

Maple Interior on tom w/ 1040 stamp

Bottom head on tom is GREAT! Actually has lots of tension and produces a musical tone

Heads on bass are ok but some splits- could be fixed- they hold tension and sound fine

Hoop inlay has been repaired in several places- some small areas missing- hard to notice

Finish on bass is clean but discolored from age (bottom is more "gold")

ONE BASS SPUR INCLUDED (that's really all it needs to stay upright)

BOTH DRUMS ARE IN EXCELLENT STRUCTURAL CONDITION
A while ago I could have purchased this exact set for $150. But I didn't want to pay the shipping. It was gold sparkle with gold hardware!

Hey guys! Please please help with the Ebay links.

It is easier for me to just delete the posts now because later they will be of no use to anyone.

So take the 5 minutes, save a few images directly from Ebay and just add them to the post. 2 images is enough.

Then paste the info and the item #.

Thanks

David
