A few months ago, I bought JamminSams 60’s Black Oyster Pearl to rewrap three Ludwig orphans which I had sitting in the basement collecting dust (solid black FT, 1959 20" bass painted black, and a bare 8x12). After a few weeks of plugging holes, sanding the shells, and collecting some needed hardware (including the rail conselette), I finally got them rewrapped and reassembled this weekend.
Now I know that side by side, this repro OBP can't match up to the original wrap, but it's pretty darn close if you have nothing to compare it to. There's still a few "correct" hardware pieces needed, but it's playable and good enough for a buddy who wanted this for his Beatles cover band.
Looking at the "Before and After" shots I took, I started thinking about all the beautiful gallery shots members post here of their finished restorations, but seldom do we get to see what each kit looked like before all the work was done. So here's mine:
