Just noticed that I was coming up on my 2,000th post and thought I would take a few minutes to think of something profound, didn't rehearse for this gig, just typing as it comes.....
When I joined this forum almost 6 years ago, I didn't have a clue as to what knowledge I would add to my minimal personal knowledge of vintage drums, and for that matter how much more vintage equipment I would acquire also during this time.
I've been fortunate enough to make a personal friendship with more than a few folks here and have even been more fortunate to meet them in person. For that alone, I am grateful for VDF. Looking forward to more friendships.
The knowledge base here is amazing. I won't go into names, as I don't want to embarass and/or make a personal note to others without their consent, I will just say thank you for what you have given. One person who I will call out by name is Tommy P. Only because he is the unseen eye that watches over this forum and tries his best to keep it for what it was originally intended and for that I thank him personally.
To the thorns in the proverbial rose bush of VDF I say to you: While you think you may be appreciated by some, I guarantee it is a minority, read my signature when you get a chance......it rings very true to some.
Personally, I'm sure I've rubbed a few the wrong way. If you don't like the truth, don't come to me for a lie because you aren't gonna get one. I call it as I see it and if I think something is not right, I speak up. I'm sure there is folks here with more posts than I, some that have been here longer and some that haven't. All in all, some speak with knowledge and help, some with praise, some without, some all the TIME!!, some once in a while.
This is the forum where I prefer to be, learn from many and post when I have something to say. Thanks to David and Tommy for a cool place to hang my hat sometimes.
Respectfully,
Gary
