Polishing/Sealing Brass Snare Shells

Loading...

Greetings,

I just picked up a nice Pacific (early run) hammered brass snare. It is in good shape, but I want to polish it to make it shine.

Is Brasso the best polish to use, or are there better ones?

Also, would you recommend sealing the shell with car wax or something else after polishing to prevent fingerprints, corrosion etc?

Thanks for your help!

My go-to on metal recently has been Quick-Glo fine. The website says it works for brass, although I can't give my own testimonial on that, but I use it on basically everything else.

It supposedly protects from fingerprints as well cause it's basically a cleaner, polish and wax all in one.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
