Please Help: Ludwig Butcher Block Kit?? Last viewed: 35 minutes ago

Loading...

Hello,

I am going to look at this kit soon to maybe buy. Can anyone shed some light as to the year and make?

It looks like a 1976 or earlier Big Beat with a Butcher Block Cortex finish but has the 1980 style "Modular" Tom Mounting System. The badges appear to be B/O with pointed corners and 7 digit serial numbers.

It looks as though the drums are from the early 70's with an updated modular tom system?

The Kick Drum has a 3 ply shell with reinforcement hoops, so probably early 70s.. the Modulars might be replacements, check for extra holes!

Personally i do not like the look of the Modular Tom and Kick Drum mounts... maybe taste...

Ah, just buy them and give them a clean home.

3 ply Luddys went well into 1976. I wish the pic was clearer.

Thanks for the feedback and my apologies on the pic quality as it was sent to my buy the seller.

I will be taking a look today and I hopefully have then in my possession soon. I really hope that the modular tom mounts were not added!

Does anyone know if Ludwig used the butcher block cortex wrap on 1980's kits such as the actual "Modular" kits?

Cheers!
