Please help ID this drumshell Last viewed: 11 seconds ago

I was at my friend's drumstore a couple months ago. He had some shells on the shelf and I was checking some of them out.

This is one that I got down and was asking him about it. He knows drums well (operating the store for decades) but was not sure what this shell was.....had been around the shop for years.

It originally had some Ludwig lugs on it. Obviously a snare shell.....but these pics are about all I can share. I will not be surprised when some of you figure this out......this is a hard crowd to stump!

Thanks for the info. Might be snagging it up from him.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Is the shell acrylic/plastic, some other material?

It looks like someone spray painted a fiberglass or acrylic shell.I'm leaning toward acrylic because of the seam..

I think it's a three band Vistalite that someone rattle canned.

The "three band" explains the two rings around the center.

I wonder what colors it was before it got the spray paint.

I wanted to just sit back and watch.....but have decided I need to step in here (once I saw you guess an Acrolite).

This shell material is not metal at all. It feels like fiberglass, plastic, resin - something like that. The reason I did not disclose that before is because frankly I did not think it would be necessary. I thought (and still anticipate) that someone would see this and know exactly what it is - based on having one themselves or having seen one before.

Based on the edge cut, I would guess that it would be quite resonate, sensitive, and loud. I hope to find out someday, as I plan on buying it if the info here deems it worthy.

Um, nobody so far has guessed "Acrolite."

I said "Vistalite," as in the acrylic drums that Ludwig introduced in the '70's. A three-colored one, which is why I wonder what colors (plural) it originally was.

I think it could be a 6.5" snare from a similar kit to this one:

Sorry - my bad - I honestly misread it. Vistalite seems to be the best guess thus far I would think.

I'm pretty sure this is a tivoli vistalite shell. Those grooves are for the light ring that used to be there. A simple google search will show some close enough pics, and you'll see the grooves...
