Playing in different rooms Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Hey everyone

I find playing only on my snare drum very pleasant!

So I thaught: "Let's experiment on playing in differnt rooms."

After a good warm up, I removed the snare from room to room every

5 minutes. What I noticed was that in some rooms the sound was more "open" and it was therefore "easier" and more "pleasant" to play.

For instance:

-living room: "medium open sound"

-veranda: "very very open sound"

-my bedroom: "medium - very opensound"

-garage (rehearsel space of our band): "death sound", "very little life"

(there are 2 'Persian' carpets and some acoustic screens in the garage)

Is it normal that I find it "harder" to play in some rooms?

I just get tired more quickly in the garage than in the other rooms. In the gagage I get tired after 20 minutes of soloing (intense), whereas in the other rooms I can solo for 1 - 1,5 hours without getting tired.

I'm totaly not a heavy hitter, my trust and energy lies in my technique. I try to play as ergonomicly as possible.

I play a Ludwig lm402 (tuned very high, Buddy rich-Ian Paice-Carl Palmer style), Ambassador coated (batter), Ludwig xthin snare reso.

Rest of the drums: Ludwig Legacy 14, 16, 18, 26 (everything coated ambassador), paiste 2002 cymbals black label

(20 medium, 22 medium, 22 ride, 10 splash, 15 sound edge Hihat)

This is very normal. Room acoustics make a huge impact on your playing, your energy and desire to play. But this is good training for you so when you're performing live you'll experience the same type of experiences.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!
