Picked up a vintage 22'' 'Japan' pie...

I'll upload some pictures shortly.

Picked up a 22'' vintage cymbal stamped JAPAN under the bell area.

I'm guessing these pies were mass produced and packaged with Japan stencil kits of the 60's?

It weighs in at 2160, SUPER dark and somewhat dry.

Sounds great to me for a cheap ($85) trash can lid pie!

Anyone know off the top what the alloy's were for these and % etc?

Thanks in advance gents :)

Sounds like a 60's TW K to me, maybe not on the video, but I can dream right! :D

Nothing wrong with that at all. Has a neat sound to it.

A bit dry and dark, even more so live.

Another interesting thing about it is I got it locally from our vintage drum shop here in town that's owned by José Mendeles, he said this cymbal was from his personal stash but I didn't get into too much detail as in if the cymbal was used on any Breeders recordings or anything...

I wish somebody would report a reliable answer in regards to the metal composition. I have long wondered about it myself. It is quite well known that I appreciate these and I appreciate your post!

Score!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
