So I posted on another forum about Matt's gear being stolen along with his list and pertinent info. Most of the replies have been positive with people sending condolences or that they'll keep their eyes open. But one " jerk " decided that his comment was going to be something to the tune of " why would someone leave uninsured gear in a storage locker. Seems like an accident waiting to happen. "
First - Regardless of insured, that isn't the point. My family has been robbed in the past. You can't begin to know that feeling until you've lived it. Not to mention who would think that the secure facility they are renting could have that happen so blatantly? Millions rent these places because they are generally secure. If they weren't, they wouldn't be everywhere!
Second - Insured doesn't bring the things back, and money doesn't fix everything as the younger generation thinks it does. Not to mention insurance covers a percentage of what was taken ( be it car, house hold items,etc.... )
I think I went off a little on that person, and basically went into why this goes deeper than insurance and why it isn't about getting compensated. I'm not a violent guy, never even been in a fight my whole life. But after I read that I wanted to leap through my computer to the guy and smack him. That really f-ing ****ed me off. Maybe that dude has never been robbed, good for him. But when it happens maybe then he'll get it.
Okay rant / vent over. It just really ****ed me off to read that. Seriously, what kind of A hole thinks that is the kind or reply you make? It wasn't like a van of gear was parked in the worst neighborhood outside the club with the van doors wide open. I mean really.
