Has anyone seen pearl presidents with this badge? can't seem to find this badge anywhere on the pearl sites as it's missing the registered mark next to the word pearl..also, the set has president hardware, 1969 wrap, supposedly wood shells and a 20" bass drum with 6 lugs per side. can't find anything on the web that fit's this description. the set is a 20/12/14/14...i'd be interested in any info anyone has...thanks

Check out this link (http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/pearl_badges.html) and you'll see that badge and the info that it was used on their lower level drums. So, IMO it's not actually part of the President line, but used the same or similar style of lugs.

I have a set out in my shop with this type of badge. A later 70s all wood set, which at that time was their low-end kit (their top-end during this period was their fiberglass and wood-fiberglass shells).

I've seen it a couple of other times, but always with the 70s/80s style of lugs. The Pearl President series actually had a badge that says "Pearl President Japan" on it, the "Pearl" being in the same script type that was used in the mid-to-late 60s (just above your badge on the above link).

Hope this helps,

Bill

Thanks Bill...What do you think about the finish tho...the only place i'm seeing this finish is on the drums from 69'...and even the badge is slightly different from the ones you showed me as there is no "registered" (R in a circle) mark

on the badge that all the other ones seem to have. thanks, june

As for the finish, I would guess your drums date to the very late 60s, very early 70s. If I recall, Pearl didn't offer that type of finish more than 2 or 3 years anyway.

I didn't catch the "R" on the badge, but don't think that makes a big difference.

BTW -- Welcome to the forum!
