Paiste 404s anyone?

I got these with a set of Ludwigs I just bought and did some research on their value. I was surprised they fetched so much so I listed them on eBay here:

I thought these were entry-level cymbals but I guess the price of anything vintage has skyrocketed.

Can't say as I've ever played or listened to any of these cymbals. How do they sound?

Yes, they are "entry-level" cymbals, but all the reviews and YouTube videos I just watched are very positive! The Black-Label models, like yours, seem to be pretty good! You've already got a bid at $200. Honestly, even at $300, they will be a very good buy for someone!

Here's a good link about the 404... https://www.cymbal.wiki/wiki/Paiste_404

edit: your cymbals may be "brown label". Hard to tell from the pictures. However, the above website mention that the "heavy" hi hats appeared in the "brown label" line.

Great site, thanks. They are black labels without serial numbers so they are Swiss made as stamped.

Hey O-Lugs: I haven't played them but plan to soon.

I had a set of hats and a 20” ride at two different points. They sounded surprisingly good, I remember. Nothing I would take on a gig, but definitely better than any modern B8 offerings from the big companies.

I have a 404 brown label 20" ride - weighs around the 2100g mark and is actually a very good cymbal - nice light ride, great crash and good spread- I also own 2002 and Giant Beat 20" cymbals and the 404 can stand its ground to any of those. I would buy another if I could find one.
