Painting Acrylic Drums Last viewed: 1 day ago

Hi All -

I'm in the market for an acrylic kit once my Slingerland kit sells on CR. I know many folks like the looks of clear acrylic drums but they do absolutely nothing for me. Just wondering if anyone has ever taken the risk and tried having these kits spray painted by ,say, an automotive body shop. Thanks and have a nice Thanksgiving.

I never thought of doing that... but have had some of those that were scratched up so bad I wrapped 'em. Which isn't out of the ordinary because Ludwig wrapped unsold white vistalite shells with chrome back in the day.

Anyway, I did look into having some 70s Pearl fiberglass shells painted at a body shop. After meeting with the shop's owner a couple of times and him giving me an estimate, I ended up just wrapping those, too. It was cheaper...

Oh yes, and a Happy Thanksgiving to all as well... with a Merry Christmas then just around the corner!

When I was young and foolish I painted the inside of an acrylic kit with black latex house paint just brushed it on it actually looked pretty good. Later in life as I grew up I realized what I had done and I removed the paint and brought the kit back to it's original condition. I sure am glad I didn't use automotive paint. Why not look for a tinted vista kit or maybe a Fibes acrylic colored kit.
