I bought a badly flaking Supra Supersenstive from an ebay seller, because I get a kick out of little mechanical stuff.
Well. I tried the snare out, thought it sounded great. Dropped the snares, and it sound....just the same. The carriage would drop, but not the wires.
So...there's a small bolt and nut sticking up from the metal pieces at the end of the snare wires. It looks like at one point, instead of replacing the snares, someone drilled out the rivet on the old ones, and attached the 'regular' wires to the metal tab at the end of the snare wires.
I'm thinking replacing the snares is plan A, BUT, here's the problem:
I can't figure out how to get the snare wire off! It almost looks like the whole things has to be disassembled, but THAT can't be right.
This has probably been around before...my search didn't find it...so there may be a link. Or a 12 step support group!
How is it done?
