Old/Odd 15" Hi-Hats-Any Guesses on what they are?

Loading...

Hey cymbal folks,

Got these as a thrown in with a kit. They are 15" hi-hat cymbals. Both look like they have been cut down from larger cymbals at one time.

The three pictures below are of the "top" cymbal. No trademark anywhere, but there is a faint "Made In Italy" block stamp that was found on Pasha's and on Ludwig-Tosco's (see the middle picture for said faint stamp). As you can see, it has a "not quite round" look to it, and the outside diameter is a bit "wavy" when you run your finger across it. You can also see scratches from whoever was filing it all the way around! Any guesses on the top cymbal?

The next three photos are of the "bottom" cymbal. It is certainly a Zildjian that has been cut down. You can see "Medium" and "Crash" faintly stamped on the top. You can also see (sorry about the photo, it was a tough one to capture) that the top of the trademark was cut off. Any guesses on what era Zildjian it is? Thanks for your help!

You seem to have figured out the bottom cymbal. The top cymbal seems more hammered than a Pasha or a Ludwig, & reminds me of a UFIP. .. A cut down Zildjian, & a UFIP top(depending on the weight), should make a very nice set of Hi-Hats.
