Older Zildjian K Custom line

Not exactly super vintage stuff but getting up there in years, it seems

Zildjian issued some K Custom ride cymbals in the late 80's for Dave Weckl

and was wondering if anyone knew anything about the weights. In other words,

did Zildjian class them or was it just 1 general weight. Reason I'm asking is

I had one and stupidly sold it a few years ago but picked up another used

one just today and it seems heavier, still sounds nice and I'm happy, but

just wanted to know if anyone else knew anything more about K Custom rides

from the late 80's...

The first K Custom line was a brilliant finish, unlathed cymbal that just said "CUSTOM" on it. It was a hammered cymbal and they only came in one weight, fairly heavy. That didn't stop Gary Husbands from using them as crash cymbals (and making my ears bleed) in '88 during the Allan Holdsworth show I saw in DC.

Cool Pounder, sounds about right. I got my first one in '89 or '90 and

it only said CUSTOM also. The one I just picked up must be the same

vintage with only CUSTOM on it. I also had a CUSTOM DRY and that

thing hurt me and finally sold it just a few years ago, was the driest

heaviest most complex ride I ever owned and can thank my Dave

Weckl influence for trying that thing in the first place.

Gary Husband is a monster :)
