Old Sonor Performer pedal: how to disassemble?

Hello,

I shortly bought a kit with a Sonor Performer pedal (obviously Z5365?) from the 80's. Trying to disassemble the axle, but there's one pin (red circle) that doesn't come out. I guess it fixes the angle of the beater part on the axle. On the bottom/ opposite side (yellow circle) I've taken off the hexagonal nut.

Is it screwed in?

Or can I use a hammer and beat it out from the bottom side?

On the top of the bolt there's no slot or whatsoever to screw it out: it's just blank.

Put a dowel or some piece of wood on it, tap it out easy with hammer. Someone over tightened it.

One more questions, please:

After cleaning the ball bearings: which type of grease/ oil is the best?

Vaseline (petroleum jelly), oil for bicycles/ electric shavers or Ballistol?

No oil. Oil will drain out rather quickly. I use brake grease. I go to Autozone or NAPPA, get a little squeeze package of Brake bolt and caliper grease. Bearing grease comes in large 15 dollar cans, the package is about 2 bucks or so. It'll never see the heat it can handle or water it repels in a BD pedal and is designed not to run. Red fifth wheel grease is fine too.

Don't go under your car and scrape some, it'll have road grains in it.

Hi there,

Thanks so much for the information - greatly appreciated.

As I have just this huge demand of two tiny ball bearings to be lubricated,

I'd prefer to use material I already have in house ...

Guess that Vaseline could do the job, too?

Yes it will work, I don't see why not. You may smell it though.

Thanks, yes, it works - and doesn't smell, as I have 'Vaseline Chesebrough' which is chemically pure vaseline without perfume etc..
