this drum I bought, is brass shell I think, 5 1/2x16 wood hoops w/brass reinforcement rings over them, the tension system is 12 clips top and bottom "laced together" w/ wire in a pattern of diamonds. not homemade..any thoughts, I'll try to get some pics. thanks Mark

Maybe it's an old A.G. Soistmann & J.W. Pepper drum. It sounds like the same tensioning system, anyway.
