I just picked up a Ludwig & Ludwig bass drum last night. I'm a novice when it comes to vintage drums (though I love them).
I play in a band that primarily plays pre 20's americana music from the South, Ozarks, and the Appalachians. I've been playing a kit comprised of a 1967 Ludwig Snare & Floor tom & a late 90's yamaha stage custom kick which belongs to another one of my sets. I've wanted an older, boomy kick for a while, so was very excited to get this guy last night.
Here are some pictures:

The last picture seems to picture the spurs, and two types of cymbal holder.
I'm not sure what this device is for, though:

It also included the original snare drum stand & all the tension rods.
I spent some time looking through catalogs last night, I believe this drum (or something similar) was made from 1924-1940ish. I tried to date it based on the hardware that came with it, but i did not have much luck. Can anybody give a read on when this might be from? There is no badge on the outside.
Also, the actually dimensions of the drum are 25.5" x just over 12" Can I throw a 26" fiberskyn head on there? I really don't want to learn the art of lapping for this project (maybe some other time), but if it is necessary, I suppose I will.
Thanks for your help! I'm glad to have found this forum.
If you need further info, or have questions, let me know.
