Thanks for all the kind words. Something that may interest those on here who intend to re-wrap their drums was the use of ratchet straps to apply even pressure on the wrap once it has been bonded to the shell. It may be that others have used this technique but if so, I haven't seen it. I tensioned the straps up quite tightly and left them on for a couple of days which really helped to hold the wrap on tightly. They also really help when trimming the excess wrap off to prevent pushing the wrap off the shell at the edges.

Sorry but one last thing I forgot to mention was that even though the bass drum was originally a Duco finish, I did not need to trim back the new wrap to fit the heads. The new Aquarian American Vintage heads fit over the wrap with heaps of room to spare. I know that some people are wary of wrapping previously unwrapped drums because of the wrap issue so maybe useful to note that it's not necessarily a problem.
