my Ludy cobs weigh in @ 9 # each and sound great, however the 20 + paiste's just kill them with body and ghost notes/buzzrolls that are breathtaking. the tuning range is unbelievable. I play them with no muffling and the ring off these are like no other snare I have heard live! 1/4" thick solid brass!Mind Blowi
I sold that exact version in 2002. It was the heaviest snare drum. I had to use a handcart to wheel it out to my customer's car. I was able to play on it, it was amazing, believe it or not it a very warm sound. I just could not imagine gigging out with that snare with out getting a bulging disk in my back. It took two guys to carry each of Carl Palmer's bass drums!

Yeah my brass Edition ludwig weighs in at 11Lbs, it has brass rims also! Darn Paiste maybe one of these day's!!! I'm sure the 2002 spirit drum is the stuff!!!
