I have the badges for this kit I just need to install them. No idea where to find badges except time to time on eBay and they tend to get around $75-$100 USD depending on how nice they are.
Oaklawn Camco walnut refinish
Amazing. Very talented and gutsy person you are. Thanks for sharing. Makes me wanted to have someone do the same with my Camco Oaklawn tuxedo. Really don't like the existing moire thingy wrap...
I would keep it wrapped if I were you since they have white painted interiors - the lacquered ones had clear interiors (well, lightly stained I should say but natural).
A rewrap would be easy to do for your kit, or easy to find someone you can hire to do it. Cost-wise it would probably be a wash because it is a LOT of labor in doing a stain/lacquer job. With wrap the cost is mostly in materials.
Hey Mario, Are you going to keep these? Btw, I use the grommet tool from Precision Drum. Same one Jerry used.
No they are already spoken for. I had this kit pretty much sold before I was even done with the restoration. I would keep them but I have another great sounding Camco in the same sizes and I am more of a player than a collector. I do love restoring drums and it's nice to think this kit will be around for a long time being played and enjoyed.
Amazing result Mario !
Hard to believe this is your first stain and topcoat restoration job.
I've done a couple of Camco sets so far and all of them have been most rewarding.
When you know that the drums go to a good home and will be played and recorded by a next generation of great players, I have no problem to let them go,....
Top notch Job and person! Camco God reunite us all!
Cause you got the bug dont'cha?
