Now THAT is THE sound

I have had a variety of high hats - 14" Paiste 2002 SE, 14" Paiste Signtarure SE, and 14" Sabian HHX Evolutions. I have enjoyed all these hats but the ones that arrived today on the UPS truck are just the sound of what a high hat should be - at least to my ears.

1960's Zildian New Beats

Top Hi Hat weight = 887 grams

Bottom Hi Hat = 1134 grams

I must say I am in love. Beautiful foot chick, meaty stick definition, and that classic sizzle sound. I heard so many good things about the vintage New Beats but I thought a lot of that was just nostalgia ringing through old drummer's tinnitus ears. Well, the hype is not hype at all. These hats are just awesome. The color of these guys next to all my newer cymbals looks horrible but that patina sure makes these babies sing. Today is a good day.

I knew they were gonna be sweet at those weights. Congrats!

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

Im on my second set of 14"s (20 years apart)...one of the few cymbals I can by blind and know they're gonna be fine.

Just flipped a set of 15's too, damn fine cymbals.
