Not So Modern Drummer snare drums engraved by John Aldridge are back in production!

Loading...

It's only taken three and a half years for John Aldridge to fit me into his schedule but he just sent me pictures of the first drum he is engraving for Not So Modern Drummer: A 4 x 14 black nickel chrome on brass beaded shell drilled for ten lugs and engraved with a Slingerland scroll based pattern and the NSMD logo. These black chrome drums are just like the original ones that John made when he was running NSMD and will be available in several sizes and with hardware options. There is a new shell in the line up; an unbeaded copper shell with brass bearing edges! John is engraving a 6.5 x 14 shell right now and it is so top secret that if we tell you how and where we make them we will have to kill you. Personalized engraving will be an option. These two drums are for sale. I included pictures of the 4x14 engraving. All new arrivals will be announced at the Not So Modern Drummer website store. They will not be sold on Ebay.

I need pictures of previous NSMD drums that John engraved. Neither he nor I have any pics of them.

thanks, George Lawrence

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I'm excited too. I've owned a couple of the 6.5 x14 drums without the engraving and they just sound great.

Almost any option desired as far as lugs, hoops, strainer, heads, wires, vents, etc. The stock model will be 2.3 mm steel hoops with a p85 type strainer. I do still have those badges. I am reserving them for some special drums in the future. Email me about that. george@notsomoderndrummer.com. Otherwise the only "badge" on the NSMD drums will be the engraved logo. I have a prototype of a copper shell with brass bearing edges on the way; a proprietary shell, which means that if I tell you where I'm having it made I'll have to kill you. Suffice it to say that they are made in America and this company has been making drum shells since the 1800s.
