I'm looking into duplicating these sticks and need a clean, unused pair to send to the factory. Much thanks!

Are they different from the BopWorks Mel Lewis sticks?

Never play it the same way once.

Yes, the Cappella stick is a bit longer. Pictured from left to right are the Gretsch 7A Mel Lewis Model, Cappella Mel Lewis Model and Bopworks 7D Mel Lewis Model.

For the record, Chris Bennett of Bopworks wrote to me and stated that:

"Unfortunately, Gretsch sticks (actually made by Cappella) differed immensely from year to year, particularly in the 1960s . We had 8 pair of Gretsch Mel Lewis sticks and every pair was different in length, tip, and diameter to some degree.

We took an average of the closest dimensions, tapers, and tips of the pairs and settled on that. The length was chosen as listed in the '67 Gretsch catalog.

Almost every pair of Gretsch sticks we have does not match a sister pair of the same model. In some cases the sticks in the same pair don't match!"

Very interesting! So they have created a Mel Lewis stick that never existed.
