Well, here's the latest, remember when I said her son has power of attorney? He's pulling a fast one, he'll only let me visit her in his company. I tried calling to find out why, but he has yet to return my call. I have my suspicions to why he is doing this. Cathy and I never got married, we lived together for about 15 years, I just find it easier to call her my wife.

I'm not doing too good, depressed all the time, spending more time with my daughter and grandson and that helps, but I feel like I'm slowly losing her. I'm getting older and can't handle all this stress.

I`m not sure about marital laws in the US, but, in Ontario, after 3 months of living together, a couple become "common law" which means that they are practically married...The only difference between married and "common law" basically is a signed piece of paper...

I hope the best for you, Mark!! Stay strong and I`m sure everything will work out in the end...It will take some time...

Cheers

I'm sorry to hear that besides coping with her health issue that you now have to deal with his personal problems. After 14 years, You are family. You've earned every right to be included in her well being and also for your own sake. My advice would be to try not to escalate things between you and the son. He's acting like a 2 year old for some reason. Try to take the high ground. Hopefully he will come around.

Fifteen years! In Canada, you ARE a common-law couple! No wonder you're stressed. Mark! I too lived with my wife for fifteen years before we were married a few years ago. It hasn't made any difference to me or in the eyes of the law. My heart goes out to you, Mark. This should not be happening!!!

P.S. Hey, Rod, I think you meant three YEARS, not three MONTHS. LOL!

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.
