Hi Folks,
Just want to share with you my latest purchase.
A few days ago I noticed an ad on a Dutch site.
A 1960's Japanese Emperador set, some cymbals and hardware were offered for 125.00. The pictures were not great but what caught my eye was the snare. (see pic1 & pic2). The badge didn't look familiar but it looked much older then the other stuff. I started to do some research and where else then on VDF, I found what it was. A 1940's Triumph, made in Holland.
If you didn't already, do check the article on Triumph and Royal drums by Tom Vermulst on VD Guide. A brilliant story on both Dutch brands, beautiful historical insight with pre- and post WWII as background setting, absolute must read!

In the mean time I've been in contact with Tom. The snare needs a good cleaning but seems to be complete. The batter hoop however is quite out of shape. I'll post some pictures when it's all cleaned and polished.
The Emperador set isn't in great condition and the cymbals are junk but as a nice bonus the set came with a nice WFL flat base snare stand.
PS: Wrong section, should have been in Vintage non USA,... my mistake.
