Oh you always make sense. With the hole being rough as they are yo will have no trouble. I was picturing the holes clean with slightly rounded edges. As for the snare bed,, me too, I will cross the same bridge with you.Jeff C

Jeff,

I did my snare beds on both the Jazz Festival reproduction for this set as well as the BR reproduction(http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=35774) last night. On these FG shells, it was a piece of cake as my multi-purpose tool with the standard triangular sanding head (with 80 grit paper) easily did the trick. I used one of my old marchers with good snare beds as a guide, took careful measurements and made marks where I wanted to cut and started sanding. It took it right down to the marks in no time at all and looks like it will do do the trick! I'll know more about that in a day or two when I actually get them all put together. I may have to order some snare wires, and if so hopefully I can get them here by the weekend so I can have these two complete by then!

Shoot, I've got to go to work... I'm in such a drum makin' mood I've actually thought about calling in sick! Shame on me!

I got the badges off drums that were so far gone they were only worth parting out. These probably came out of the batch of marching drums I bought in the summer of '11 from a music store that had collected trade-ins from schools for over 30 years and just stuck'em in a metal shed out back. There was a lot of good stuff, but a lot of water-damaged stuff as well.

For what it's worth, I cleaned those badges up with a buffing tip on my dremel. Thought it did a really good job.

I appreciate ALL the compliments! Especially since I had intended to put a nice, new front-side head with a Ludwig logo on it! But when the time came, all I had was used black heads and used clear heads, most beat-up pretty bad. And I just couldn't wait to get pictures, so I took'em that way anyway.

But, not to worry, I have rectified that with a order coming with several new heads! So, I may be putting a new white head on the front with the correct Ludwig logo just to take new pics soon!

Finally got the FG Jazzfest repro to go with this set wrapped. Will probably finish it over the weekend...

Yes, that is the Buddy Rich 4x14 FG repro sitting on the BD...

And yes, that IS a Jawa (from Star Wars) repro carefully watching over the drums! :)

Yes. Not nearly as much as my oldest son, but yes. You wouldn't believe his collection of Star Wars stuff. He's almost 35 (next month), so he's just about the same age as Star Wars.

We're also huge Star Trek fans...

I'm doing my best to keep up. Hey, I finished up the "Auditorium" 6.5x15 repro Monday (thread posted), and it's already sold! May have found a new market for 12x15 cut-downs...

We had Thursday & Friday off due to snow/ice, and I've worked on drums through the whole snow-in. Keeping VERY busy!
