Newly finished Zickos Supersonic kit

Loading...

Bought this locally on CL a few months ago, and I just finished working on it.

Full album here: http://imgur.com/a/onmr0

Stripped the paint off but the shells were permanently stained beyond salvage, so I plugged a few extra holes and primed painted and sealed everything. Then I put edges on by hand, with sandpaper because you can't route fiberglass.

I put good heads on and I'm really surprised at how good they sound! Huge loud 70's rock tone. The kick is especially nice, and I wasn't expecting much out of these. Not my kind of kit, but they do sound really good. I'll be moving them along when I can get some better photos taken.

Excellent work! Is that a metallic automotive finish?

Thank you!

COOOOOOL! I like your choice of colour. Fits this kind of kit.

Just curious but why can't you route fiberglass?

I don't know about chopped or layed-up fiberglass, but I know you can use a router on spun fiberglass.

Nice job. That color reminds me of a vintage drum color I've seen before. Just can't remember where. Cool design on them too. I like drums that are different like these.
