Newbie hello

Loading...

Hello everyone. I am a newbie and have been a silent member to this forum for the last month or so until I had good photos to share.

I have been out of drumming for the past 35 years since my teens and have only recently gotten back into it. I recently purchased a 1965 Ludwig Super Classic drum kit in Oyster Blue Pearl. Sizes are 22/13/13/16. This set comes with dual rail consolettes and two 13 inch rack toms. The bass drum has a WFL Speed King. I usually only have 1 tom mounted but love having the option to add the other tom when I feel like it.

The wrap is in fantastic original condition with no greening which I understand can be typical of this wrap with age. Wrap on each drum blends well with each other.

I am enjoying them very much though my enthusiasm certainly outweights my skills :)

I don't have the original blue oyster snare for this kit (I can't justify the cost of one) so am using a mid 1980s chrome Ludwig snare with the black/white badge which does the job.

I have uploaded photos to the Drum Gallery to share with you.

I really enjoy the posts on this site and how helpful people are with one another.; what a great community!

Thanks for letting me share.

Chris, I took a look at your drums in the gallery, they are very nice! I also have a OBP kit and was hoping to find a matching snare as well but dang, they are expensive! Anyway, Im glad you joined the group, Im sure you will find this forum to be a comfortable place. If you ever have questions or just want to show off a new drum than this is the place!

Thank you!

Those look great. Blue oyster is my favorite of the oysters. Ludwig is finally selling a blue oyster pearl that's similar to the original.
