new vintage style drum made

Very nice work, the gaskets look especially good on the butt and throw IMO.

I have a couple of segment drums and I love the tuning range, tone and the response,a couple of well respected builders say they are very similar to single ply snares, but can be had for a lot less money in a lot of cases.

I think that is the first wrapped segmented shell I have seen.I like the way segmented shells look, this is a nice alternative to those that don't.

@Green Glass Drum: No, sorry, I don't do commissions. The reason is that working on drums is my hobby. Cuurently I have about 6 hour a week to spend on it (in holidays more). And I've got a lot of ideas that I want to try out. I'm currently working on a croatian oak stave shell and I'm working on a completely new shell design that I think has never been made before. Being in the proces of designing and finding out how to make it is so much fun for me. If I had to do commissions I'd miss that fun. Maybe in about two years, when my working situation (daytime job) changes, I start little production lines. Maybe I'll buy a big lathe then, to make turning shells easier.

@Eamesuser: I've seen Outlaw Drums paint some of their segmented and stave shells. My initial plan was to keep it natural, but in the making proces some chips got ripped from the wood by the router bit. Even when I filled those with a matching colour filler, it was still looking bad at some places. So I changed plans.

@green glass drum: Thanx, man. No, I'm a psychologist. But I have a back ground in fine arts (painting, sculpting) and have allways been working with my hands for a hobby, I like making stuff.

And don't forget: there's you-tube with loads of vids from guys working with wood. I learn a lot from them.

I'm thinking of cutting psychology down from 5 to 3 days a week and then start a little business in the other 2 days. But I have to finish a study first.
