Hello!
I found this forum today looking for info about Kent drums. I was looking on ebay for a drum or two to make up a small kit. Then I happen to see a listing for a pair of Kent Drums, 12X14. They have snares on the bottom, and appear to have long tension rods that go through a loop mid shell. The strainer is a simple threaded tensioner, no throw off. The rims are a light colored wood, the shell has a mahogany look to it.
They appear to have calfskin/fiberskin type heads, top and bottom. Everything looks to be in good shape. They look like small marching snare drums to me.
Currently, I only own a cheap non vintage snare drum. I love snare drumming, and love vintage stuff. I work on vintage rifles and shotguns almost everyday.
Just to tell you a bit about my drumming background, I started in 6th grade, and have been at it off and on ever since. I did the High school band thing, tried out but never did the DCI thing, and eventually taught drummers in a few different hs bands over the years. Once, two former students and I bought some old marching snares, stripped the shells, refinished them, and turned them into psuedo old time marching snare drums. We formed a fife and drum corps, and did a parade. I played Side drum in a pipe band for a few years, and don't do anything with drums at present.
These things are tempting me, and I feel like I am at a dangerous place, even joining this forum!
No one has bid yet, but maybe folks are lurking? As they stand right now, with shipping both could be had for around $100.
I would probably use one of them to accompany my kids with our little band we are forming. The drums would fit i with the look of my little ukulele almost perfectly.
Any thoughts, warnings, or advice about future therapy/intervention options would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Tom
