When I took the hardware off this Gretsch snare, the wrap nearly fell off too. Based on suggestions from several members, I decided to attempt to repair the wrap, rather than replace it. My first step was to clean and remove the glue, which easily came off with water. I never removed the badge, but simply worked around it. It was necessary to scrape some of the remaining glue from the shell with a single blade razor.
I got back to working on it today and realized that the wrap has shrunk! Starting from the badge and working around the drum in both directions, the first set of wrap holes line up with the shell nicely. The second set are both about 1/8 off. Working to the last holes near the ends of the wrap I can't even see the shell hole through the wrap hole. The over-lap, which would normally be about 3/4 inch is roughly 1/4 inch, meaning that the wrap has shrunk roughly 1/2 inch in length. Using a hair dryer, I heated an 8" section for 15 minutes. The wrap was too hot to touch, but would not stretch. Any suggestions?
