Need advice: Tama Granstar - Changing the wrap colour

Hello all, new here! Walking

I have a rare colour Tama Granstar II from early nineties. It is nile blue.

Bought a new 8" for the kit but it is white and needs to change to nile blue. Violin

Seems like the 3M stripper is a good product to strip the old paint off the wrap?

Did not find what kind of paint is best for the plastic wrap. And does it need to primed?

The colour itself is a big problem. How and where to get the right tone. Thinking of professional carpainters.

Hi If it were me id go with your drum to a professional car specialist. Im sure they will get it bang on or near to the colour. If you do it your self the finish might turn out fine but it is the match you need to be right. Just wondering would it be worth letting them re spray the whole set. I have a custom snare drum i built, had it sprayed at a car specialist in Manchester and it looks top class.....sean

Car paint is a great way to go but it is a nightmare because it will scratch easily. Either you get them to clear the tom with at least 3 coats to get some durability or you do what i have done in the past which is to get a small piece of 3M clear gloss plastic and get the paint guy to coat the interior. In other words, you make your own wrap with the exact match. All you have to do then is to re-wrap your tom and voilà.

Keep fixing them up...
