Mystery Paiste Stamp?

Loading...

Interesting info. Thanks zenstat and oddball.

Maybe I got two tops paired together, since they are both about the same weight?

I never would have guessed that these were Giant Beats (if in fact they are). Without seeing the stamp, they look like generic cymbals.

Hi. First of all, do they have serial number?

That cymbals look like Paiste Giant Beat to me. The colour is characteristic in the B8 bronze alloy (CuSn8), used in Giant Beat, 2oo2, and others.

I have a 15" Giant Beat hihat from the 70's, they have that logo with the sunrays at 3 o'clock position. I'll take photos and check the weight for you.

Cheers.

Here you have the weight of my 15" Giant beat for reference.

Top: 892g

Bottom: 980g

The "GIANT BEAT" logo is at 12 o'clock position, above the bell, and the "PAISTE" sunray stamp is at 3 o'clock.

The serial number is below the bell, at 6 o'clock, and has 6 digit (2XXXX).

Same stamp and position as the white label, pre serial # Giant Beat I have.

Was it common to have more similarly matched hat weights in those days? I thought I read that somewhere...

How do they SOUND?!

Compare the lathing size to the letters. Nearly exact as on mine. Terry Keating from the Bonzoleum youtube channel was rambling on about the lathing size at one time. Don't remember what he was saying, but there were differences.
