My pre serial ludwigs new old date stamp!

Loading...

I have a sky blue pearl 60-61 pre serial 3 pc kit that I recently restored to the original interior paint(previous owner painted the interior black) and I wanted to get the factory stamp on it; Forum member "Creighton" created 2 stamps along with the correct ink color and today I re stamped my drums! Took me 3 tries on the kick of stamping, realizing it looked horrible due to the awkward curve of wood, then sanding and re painting white, and re stamping.

Now my 60-61 Pre serial ludwigs have the cherry on top!

1690? Hey, isn't that the year that the Iroquois tribes renewed their allegiance to the British against the French? The slaves at Ludwig made some great stave shells that year as well. :D

The stamps are cool...

Too many great drums to list here!

Thanks! Had to sand down the black paint a ton then I used a sponge brush and 3 light coats of Benjamin Moore paint.

LOL - They came out great Jordan! I got a kick out of the 1690 one. I would have left it just like it was. I can see some 16 year-old 50 years from now, opening up the drum and wondering if he smoked too much Train-Wreck and was seeing things. Eye Ball

Love the stamps! The drums look great.

haha thanks John. I can imagine it in an episode of antique roadshow, the boys face when they till him its only worth 200 dollars and it was "incorrectly" restored.

practice makes perfect

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
