Well I think I made my view on the issue pretty clear. It hasn't changed, there's no sense repeating myself, getting into a back-and-forth.

I'll just note that describing someone's actions as "stupid" is quite simply, factually and unavoidably offensive to that person. Tacking "no offense, don't take it personally" onto the end doesn't really change that. I can see chiming in to urge caution, but there's no value beyond that.

Not to mention we're pretty far from the topic of lacquer...:)

Unnecessary risks = Stupid

No offense was intended, just calling it like I see it. Like it or not, Mitch some things in life are 'stupid.' That's why the word exists. Ask your buddy, Mark. He knows stupid! :D

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Yep Velez you're so correct you define the word Stupid too a tee !!!:Snow Flake: Lets take a look at some of the examples Of Stupid from OLD JOHN VELEZ.

#1 Velez acquires a set of Ludwig Stainless Steel drums that are factory painted white. Ole Velez removes the paint from the shells even though he knows the badges and grommets are factory and the grommets on stainless steel drums without a factory or custom made grommet tool cannot be reinstalled to look factory. Due to the fact that the shells are so thin. I was trying to get in touch with Dick Gerlach the Ludwig head that was the head of the Ludwig stainless steel program. He lives In my State NC I was with Mr Gerlach the day he retired from the monroe NC plant. Mr Gerlach informed me less than 10 stainless steel kits were painted white. So Brain surgeon Velez goes and removes the factory paint.

#2 I sold a virgin 14x26" WFl Bass drum to Velez what does the Idiot do with it. drills it for modern 1980's spurs.

This is beyond pedantic and all the way to insufferable. Auto racing is the definition of an unnecessary risk - are they all stupid? Or could it be that people have different points of view?

The last sentence is just garbage. As far as I'm concerned you've pooched this poor guy's thread.

Boomstick, forget what this one moron said to you. the method you used to remove the wrap isn't new. One of the top restores here in the United States used the same method to remove Gretsch wrap that had the cheese cloth underneath the wrap also, Due to it being such a bear to remove, I think it was John Sheridan !
