Nice work man! Those drums are looking good now. I bet that 6.5" Dyna is great!

It is amazing how many drums are repainted (I guess this goes back to your psych red drum). I have a set of Rogers, tobacco sunburst Xp8s, painted black! That's going to take some work. I have a Gretsch silver sparkle snare, that I just about have all the black paint off of, and I have a buddy with a psych red set, you guessed it, painted black!

nice, Post up all that hard work for sure,I would LOVE to see! I wonder If that red psychedellic kit your buddy had also had the clear coat wrap stripped and someone sprayed it black n' sanded it...could be the matching tom??? Cool1

I'm happy to say that the snare Is the best peice of gear I've ever owned.

here's a better pic. of the rack tom.

it's not a big R series, the label inside looks more "classic" like from the 50's or 60's. It has a few problems on the bottom edge, I might need to block sand a few spots. we'll see what happens.

and while we're on the subject of "wreck-o-vation", you'll notice the mount is from the 90's or 80's even, someone drilled two extra holes and stuck this cheaper pearl hardware on, same for the mount on the kick and the other rack tom. WHY? WHY? WHY?

as for the mack tack and the nasty white coloured paint and wrap, and the Black spray...I guess you can blame it all on van-Halen wannabee kids from the 80's...GRRRRR!

I've heard TONS of horror stories from the metal and punk era of music, I have a 1959 silvetone (6 string) that came from a thrift store for 30 bucks, I see them on Ebay for 400-600 dollars US! the guy I was talking to about it, said the last time he saved one was in the 1980's at a punk show, he bought it from a kid for a beer and 30 $, he was going to play it with a hack saw!!!

what goes on in peoples heads is beyond me sometimes.

like I said, SEE YOUR GEAR FOR WHAT IT TRULY IS, treat it with respect and understanding.

you can't get the quality ingredients in manufacturing/wood/metal anymore.

For you and the gang. Here's a little Wendy O. with the Plasmatics ... doing what they do to the wonderful 'vintage' gear of yesteryear.

sorry...

Couldn't bring myself to post this video. It's just too darn disgusting. Tell you what ... do a search on YouTube for Wendy O. Williams and the Plasmatics. You'll get a glimpse of what I was getting at.

This is behooving beyond anything I wish to tolerate.

why? it's not even economically viable! Soap Box

I'd sacrifice so much for the privelage of growing up during the time when gear was produced to the better quality standar of the 60's and 70's.

it's just sickening.

I am forgetting something about your edges and the refitting thereof...you should invest in a small container of wood filler...it will be your friend. I use it and it makes life so much easier and you end up not having to lose nearly so much real wood.

My best Recourse would be to practice on something else first, my carpentry skills need some refinement before I tackle something like this.

usually I like to get a solid strategy from start to finish forming in my head before hand. (so I hit less unexpected snags)

I wouldn't want to strain myself diving into the deep end without my water wings.

I have several other projects on the go, and a little filler is always on hand.

(one it a 60's hollow body 6 string, but I don't know if I can post anything in here that is not drum related)

thanks again my man!
