Another side benefit of the white vinegar is that it is pretty good at killing odors, once its own odor dissipates.

Direct sunlight is a good remedy.

I was going to chime in with the same. Sunlight and some vinegar should get you there. Though I have used lightly applied diluted bleach.

Scott, thank for getting this thread going. I have a real nice Vintage Pearl kit I bought when my dad passed away and I am sure there is a pillow or something in that bass drum. Gonna have a look tonight while watching the Bears game.

Remember the one? It was a jazz size blue diamond pearl in tip top shape.

Thank you!

Okay, I will but I am going to let the bass drum air out overnight. There was a pillow in it and it did stain the wood. No mold thank goodness but a stain that was probably caused by the pillow holding moisture.

Once again thank you for this thread, it looks like you just saved my bass drum. I will post pics in the non USA section when I get it all back together.

Jeff it just might need a bit more time to dry out. Give it a week or so and see if it gets any better?

Ya Glenn you are right, give it more time. I might shine a halogen work light on it and see if that speeds things up a bit.

Thank you!

From where I'm sitting, that looks like an oil or greasy something stain??

Cheers
