After seeing a couple of those Steampunk style kits. I’ve decided to play around with this MIJ kit but using electronic items, if they make sense or not is the fun part. Chrome, copper and brass spray paints for more fun. The rest of the kit will take some time as I am getting parts that I’d like to use. I think I’m done with this 12” tom so far.

Hey, Olimpass, what a cool idea! My bass player would really appreciate what you're doing as he's quite enthralled with steampunk! I think the operative word in your post was "fun"! Sometimes we take ourselves and our drums a little too seriously. There must be some fun involved in all aspects of music or what's the point? Fantastic project! Best of luck!

What? Having FUN with drums?! Crazy. You know I've seen a lot if different LED lights at the dollar store in holiday items. Some AC. Some with single battery packs. Different colors. Some that flash. There has to be all kinds of LED gadgets on ebay. Light 'em up. .... just an idea.

Wanted: Pearl President floor tom in Golden Grain wrap and rack tom in Tiger Eye (root beer) wrap.

Years and Years ago during the glam rock days I hooked up lights inside of each drum and the light guy would activate them when hit during some fills. Now with the LED lights and their ability to be activated by noise/vibration that would be a fun project to have them in the drum and used to light up during a solo..... Hummm a weekend project maybe.

No Guru - I just love collecting & learning about vintage drums!
