Meinl Raker 13" Hi-hats

Loading...

I just ordered a set of Meinl Raker hi-hats. Got a great deal on them. I have read some good things about them (pro level b8 cymbals). Anybody have any more info or experience with these cymbals? Are they really rare? I can hardly find any for sale on ebay...none currently on reverb.

I had a 20" medium ride and a 16" medium crash back in the 90s - they were decent cymbals, loud and bright like most B8 cymbals are. I think they were trying to replicate some of Paiste's cymbals when they made these. If you like B8 sounds, these will be good.

thanks for the info. I prefer b20 for my crashes and my rides but I love my AMIR hihats that are b8.

I got a few of these in a music store inventory I bought out back in the late 90's, They' re geared more towards the metal sound, I never cared for them myself, But I like more traditional sounding cymbals.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I only paid $55 shipped for them, so if I don't like them I will most likely sell them. Hoping I like them though :)

The logo looks like Rake"S", that's even how they had them listed where I bought them from. After looking up info on them I found out that they are Rake"R". Not sure if it is pronounced like a garden rake with an "r" added or more like Raka...or like rocker????

I had a pair of 14" hats back in the early 90's.. They remind me of a cross between a Giant Beat and Rude..Very bright and loud hats, but still had some degree of warmth to them, if that makes any sense.. Articulate and pronounced as well, and can make any stick tip cut through..Good all around set of hats for gigging..

Wikipedia has them listed in the discontinued section as "RakeR" with an R.. Here's what they say about them..

Raker - Professional cymbals made from B8 bronze alloy, designed for louder music. Introduced in 1985 and discontinued in 2006.

I think these were Meinl's version of Paiste's "Rude" series.
