Meinl 22" ride stamped 1974 help please

Loading...

Hi

I bought a keyholed 22" ride on ebay for £8, its Meinl 1974 made in Germany so probably a beginner cymbal although i think its unusual to see a beginner cymbal of that size.

It also has a slight distortion on the edge, about 1" long, however i suppose being 38 years old, and not being well looked after it has done ok.

My question is, i want to grommet the keyhole, the hole is 13mm accross, so would i use a 1/2" grommet, or i think a 3/8" grommet, but i just want to check before i go and buy the kit.

I can supply pictures if you like, just cleaned it up yesterday with a lemon and a bit of water, it needs to be cleaned again but i only had one lemon.

Here are some pics:

And here she is cleaned up, some patience required as it was quite badly oxidised. Yes its only a nickel silver beginners cymbal, Roman Mark 74, has quite a nice sound though, bright, but not that bright, and a lot of wash.
