Being the idiot I am I managed to overtighten my snare side head on my 58 Slingerland Krupa and heard a cracking noise. I looked and the maple rering separated from the maple shell just enough to get a small needle and syringe into. I am guessing injecting glue and clamping is the best fix but what is the strongest glue to use for this? The affected area is only about an inch or so but man am I bummed out.
Maple Rering glue?
Tite Bond 2 or 3, TB2 has a faster set time, TB3 sets slower but harder. Don't be cheap with clamps and don't over tighten them, you'll squeeze out the glue. Wipe off excess with a damp rag and clamp overnight.
I'll grab some TB III from Home Depot tomorrow, thanks for the tip about overtightening the clamp......seems to be a common theme around me lately!!DOH

It was probably just ready to happen, man.
I crank mine up to 90 on the drum dial occasionally, it will probably happen to mine one day too.
The thing is 54 years old, I'm not quite that old and my body is making cracking noises all the time.....lol
Mine made the dreaded crack sound at 82 on the drum dial, it is a sickening sound when you hear it.
