Made in Turkey K Hi-Hats

From AtlantaDrumGuy

I had the rivets installed professionally. It was done for a musical purposes. The old K sounds exactly as I want it...it is now my left side jazz ride. I wanted this one specifically due to its weight. But, I also see the argument on how some people don't want to mess with an old K. I can understand that point of view. On the other hand, this is a keeper and something that I would want to pass down.

Completely understand. Enjoy it!

I weighed them today with a crappy kitchen scale (analog) and from this, it looks like ~725 grams. I'm trying to find something that's digital and more accurate, but it may take me some time.

Take them to the post office. They should have a scale in the front that you can use without having to stand in line to have an employee weigh it. It's pretty simple to use. You'll have to give it a little information, but it will give you a weight in pounds and ounces in the bottom right corner. You can then convert that to grams.

Both cymbals weigh the same at 765 grams. Does that make sense that they are both the same weight?

That's not unheard of. From what I understand, drastically different weights didn't become popular until Louie Bellson recommended it to Zildjian. Thus, we have New Beat hihats.

I would say that similar weights were rather the rule than the exception in older hats.

Those are great jazz cymbals! But I wouldnt use them for rock..kinda like using your Mercedes SL 2 seater for off roading..

I usually use a rat tail file to widen the hole ever so slightly..so they will fit new stands..and not be stressed out and get hairline cracks..
