Ludwig WFL 1121 Flat Base Hi Hat Stand

Loading...

Greetings.

Overall very good condition. Has excellent action and works very well.

A few things to mention:

1. Some rusting on the "support brace" to the right of the pedal (faces you in playing position).

2. The Bottom Cymbal seat is not original (original was partially broken and not useable when I acquired it). It's been replaced with a modern Gibraltar. The Gibraltar is made for a 3/4" tube and not 5/8", so I wrapped the top of the tube in some duct tape to make it thicker, than attached the seat. It holds firm and works great and you can cut the tape off peeking through the underside so it looks less "rigged". :) As an aside, the only company I can think of that makes a 5/8" replacement seat is Pearl, but it is super bulky and looks way out of place on a vintage stand. Every other seat I found is either for 1/2", 3/4" or 1" tubing, no 5/8".

3. In order to avoid the wing screw at the tripod base from slipping (as is common with these stands) I drilled a small hole into the actual vertical tube where the spring is located (with everything removed) and I cut 1/4" threading in it. I also modified the mickey mouse wing screw by cutting the threads shorter. The result is that the wing screw goes through the actual vertical tube of the stand so it can't slip, but not far enough to interfere with any spring or pedal action. It works great and holds much more secure. To me this is an upgrade, but it is a mod nonetheless, so I wanted to mention it.

Overall, excellent shape. It works well and I've gigged it many times with zero problems. I did put some velcro on the underside of the pedal base support just to give it a little more stability. You can easily remove it if you want.

$75 + shipping. More photos below.

Thanks,

V
