Ludwig Vistalite 14x6.5 Clear

Loading...

Greetings All,

I think I have decided to sell my 1970's clear Vistalite snare. Excellent condition!

The story on this one is that a father bought it new, then gave it to his son sometime in the 80's. The son doesn't really play that much, but owned a full Vistalite kit as well as a couple of other kits which also belonged to his dad.

He left the area in 1997 and stored them. Then about this time last year he came back to clean out his storage unit. He sold his other kits, and I bought the snare from him. When I got it, you couldn't even see through it, it was so dirty. However, a few days of cleaning and EVERYTHING cleaned up very nicely, no cracks in the shell, no rust or pitting in the hardware. There is no internal muffler on this one, he said his dad always had them removed. It still has the mount on the side for it, just no arm that goes up. However, I really like the way it sounds wide open.

Here is a link to the finished product:

I'm asking $375 shipped in the lower 48. International guys, I can find out what it would be to you.

Any interest at all please email me, I am happy to get some more pictures for you.

Thanks for looking!

Kevin

Kevin -- Do you recall what you used to clean up the snare originally?

One of these days I need to take out and give my blue Vistas some TLC!

Thanks!

I did all the chrome with a Mother's Chrome polish and elbow grease! The shell, I used lots and lots of the Fender McGuyer's instrument polish. I everything off, and drenched the shell in this polish which is water based. Then just scrubed it a ton with a micro-fiber cloth. cleaned up very nicely.

Hope that helps!

Kevin
