Hello vintage drum resto folks
I normally enjoy finding and/or restoring vintage mij kits
but just recently I found some clear Ludwig vista lites
A 22" bass 16" floor tom and unfortunately
a 14" concert style tom as the mounted drum
the kit came with a greyish orange peel acrolite snare
Missing is one 1/2" curved spur the reso side head and hoop
and the 781 tom mount
I will at some point end up with a 13" double headed tom
to replace the odd ball concert tom
Today I bought the tom mount on eBay
but was a little bit confused by the length of the main tube
which is like 20" most I have seen are about half that length
In the description written by the eBay seller
It was mentioned that this particular tom mount came from a 1976 vista lite kit
I figured that was what I needed and pulled the trigger
but gosh sakes as I look now the thing seems sort of long
I have the Ludwig book but the only mention of the 781
has more to do with the evolution of the design and the changes made along the way
Nothing at all about the varied lengths of the main tube and /or why
Why is thing so darned long ? ............Thanks Kenny
