I have a supraphonic LM402. Keystone badge, serial #86311. There are a few pits on the snare side bearing edge that are sharp & wreaking havoc on heads. What's the best way to correct this? I hesitate taking a metal file to this old drum that still sounds great.

You might try some very fine wet sand paper 600 to 1200, to smooth it down. But whatever you do , it may take a tad bit of chrome away. I don't think this will hurt.
